Samarkand

Samarkand (Uzbek: Samarqand, Самарқанд, Tajik: Самарқанд, Russian: Самарканд, Persian: سمرقند), population 412,300 in 2005, is the second-largest city in Uzbekistan and the capital of Samarqand Province.
